..do you understand the violence it took to become this gentle?..
their reaction to someone / something hurting you
featuring: cicero, serana, miraak, the dragonborn (male), lydia, delvin mallory
[all are gender neutral, there’s cussing and some depressing things in Miraak’s, wounds and blood obviously]
════ ⋆★⋆ ════

cicero
As you walk into the Dawnstar sanctuary, limping and hobbling through the hall until you reach the opening room where Cicero was humming as he tended to his sweet Night Mother. He hadn’t looked at you yet, thankfully, you weren’t sure if you could deal with him at the moment.
Painfully, you walk towards the alchemy table, planning on making a quick health potion to hopefully fix your injuries faster—
“Oh, Listener!” Cicero’s voice worriedly shouts as he rushes towards you, “my Listener is hurt, oh, Cicero should have gone with you!” He whines as he quickly makes you sit before he makes haste in checking your wounds. It wasn’t much, just a small gash on your calf. He tuts.
“Are they dead?” He asks, “let’s go kill them!” He giddily sings before you could even answer him.
.. When exactly did he start tending to your wound? You look down at the jester as he was pouring a minor health potion onto a rag before dabbing it gently on your wound. You forget how gentle he can be, he was the Keeper of the Night Mother, after all.
“Thank you..”
“Do not worry, Listener, Cicero is here to take care of you.”
════ ⋆★⋆ ════
serana
Serana had grown used to being with you and the people you surrounded yourself with over the short time you’d been together. Well, as used to it as she could, she was still not quite used to being around anyone after being trapped in a tomb for a thousand or so years.
It was a peaceful day, she was reading a book while you were out at the market, taking a day off from all your adventures to spend time with doing chores and spending time with Serana. What the vampire hadn’t expected was for you to burst into the house, your body and clothes covered in blood. Her eyes widened as she saw you, the blood filling her nose as she felt her hunger grow.
“Are.. are you okay?—“ that was a stupid question, of course you weren’t! She quickly stands and grabs a rag and wets it with some water you had stored away before handing it to you as she covers her lower face with her hand. You nod and wipe away the blood, cringing when you wipe at your wound, “you should go,” you say, “I’ll be okay, I don’t want to tempt you.”
Reluctantly, she does as you say, feeling horrible for not being able to help.
════ ⋆★⋆ ════
miraak
You were fucked. This was it.. you’d think with all the dragons you’ve killed that this was be a piece of cake, hm? Well, it wasn’t. Your heart clenched and raced as the dragon had somehow gotten the upper hand on you, something that rarely happened nowadays. You could just.. give up, couldn’t you?
Apparently not. Miraak had decided for you, moving in quickly as he slayed the dragon for you, his sword digging into the scales and crushing the skull of the massive creature with a yell. He would protect you, always. That’s what he’s told you when you convinced him to stop terrorising the world. Why hadn’t you just killed him?
“I hate you,” you mutter as you look up at him as he offers his hand to you to help you up. You don’t take it, your body ached and burned, you didn’t wish to stand yet. He shakes his head before he sits next to you, “you do not.”
Maybe he was right, “I don’t believe I’ll last much longer,” you say with a slight bit of dramatics, he laughs heartily, something you’ve been hearing more from him lately. It was nice, especially since he’d once tried to kill you.
“Well, you’ve made it this far, haven’t you? What’s another year, darling?”
“Hell.”
“Well then.”
════ ⋆★⋆ ════
dragonborn
You’d known the Dragonborn for many months, you’d met him one day in Whiterun when he joined the companions. He’d asked you to follow him, to fight with him and you’d never really gone back. You’d both saved one another countless times, it was an amazing thing to follow along during his journeys.
You can’t say you were used to the Dwemer dungeons yet. The loud noises that echoed along the walls, the dwarven spiders and spheres, guardians and the damned falmer. You hated the falmer. Though, you’d never deny that the Dwemer technology hadn’t fascinated you, they were so advanced and it was endearing to learn about it all.
You’d been injured during a dungeon you’d both raided though earlier that day, as it was now nighttime as you both sat in a camp you’d set up. You held your stomach, keeping your injury a secret as to not worry the poor Dragonborn. He had enough to worry about with Alduin and the damned war.
“Are you alright?” You heard the Dragonborn ask, making you lift your gaze from the fire in front of you and drift towards him. You nodded, “fine.” He shook his head, “do not hide your wounds from me, let me see and tend to it.” Reluctantly, you allowed him to see it, perhaps your wound was worse than you thought.
“I will always take care of you, do not hide things like this from me. We are a team, love.”
════ ⋆★⋆ ════
lydia
There weren’t many things Lydia and you haven’t done together, from fighting, looting, slaying dragons and draugr, even bathing after a particularly hard fight. She’d seen you at your most vulnerable and you her, she was your closest ally and friend— perhaps more at times.
“My Thane!” Lydia’s worried voice sounded through your ears just as you felt a blade pierce your side making you gasp. You felt the numbness after the sharp pain, the warm blood oozing from your wound before the hilt of that same sword hit against your head, affectively knocking you out.
You don’t know how long it took for you to gain consciousness again, to you it felt like mere seconds but that couldn’t be true. You were home again, back in Whiterun, “My Thane, you’re awake. I’m glad,” Lydia spoke as she approached with a healing potion and a bowl of warm soup, something easy to eat, “how do you feel?”
You groaned a bit as you moved to sit up, Lydia quickly setting the potion and bowl on your nightstand before she helps you, “be careful, you’re still healing,” she says worriedly. As soon as you were comfortable, she handed you the potion, “drink this first, my Thane,” she says before you take the potion.
“I’ve told you, you don’t have to call me that, Lydia,” you mumble before you drink the bitter tasting potion, letting it burn down your throat before your pain eases. She smiles before she hands you the soup to eat.
“My apologies, my dear.”
════ ⋆★⋆ ════
delvin mallory
Delvin was one of your oldest friends, you knew of his history with the Dark Brotherhood as you’ve been part of the assassin group for many years. You had a history with him, but ultimately both of you had gotten busy with your work and it had momentarily ended. By momentarily, I mean it ended a few years ago and hadn’t rekindled.
You had a job in Riften, it was supposed to be an easy in and out assassination but apparently word got out and your target was more prepared than you were. Of course, your hit was successful as it always was, but you’d been badly injured. Thankfully, one of the members of the thieves guild had found you just as you’d blacked out and took you down to the ratway to have you tended to.
Your eyes peered open, your hand moving to clutch your left eye, groaning in pain, “hey, hey, easy,” the familiar voice of Delvin Mallory distracted you for a moment, your right eye looking over towards him, “Del?” You softly cried out. What had even happened? You couldn’t remember. Was your eye going to be okay? It felt too painful, what if you ended up blind?
“I’m here, love,” he cooed softly, “you’re going to be alright, yeah?” You only nodded, your right eye wanted to believe him but you both knew your eye was fucked.
“Yeah..”

Molestation of Personal Space (Or: Seconds Before Disaster)
Lilliandra is an absolute fucking menace to Miraak. She has a habit of cloaking in an invisibility spell and popping up from behind, taking great joy in evading his personal space. She also enjoys being the taller one ;)
Made by the insanely talented linuxvaloare over on IG! (Expect to see another commission in the future >:3 their style fits so well for the ideas that I have but don't have the talent to do.)

A COZY NIGHT
Husband!Miraak x wife!reader, feat. Sofie and Lucia (found family)
Warnings: reader is tired, some mentions of reader’s usual battles, and that’s about it. Pure comfort for reader and her little family. Also this fanfic’s kinda short.
You came home well past midnight. You’d made the mistake of wearing lighter armor earlier today, not expecting anyone to try and attack you. Turned out the local bandits weren’t smart enough to realize that you were, in fact, the Dragonborn, and that a single shout from you could send them all flying to Elsweyr. Still, a few arrows had managed to catch your unprepared body off guard. With a few potions and some magic, you were able to heal yourself; that didn’t mean you were any less angry, though.
As you set your bag filled with ingredients and food for your daughters, you let out a groan of exhaustion. Oh, how you’d missed the comfort of your home. You were a tired soul, not even wanting to eat before plopping right into bed. Sitting down, you took off your shoes, then your dirty armor. You’d clean that tomorrow. You looked around the living room and sighed heavily. The lights were still on. Great. So your husband didn't care enough to put your kids to bed. You stood up straight again and strode into Sofie’s and Lucia’s room. The door was open, and the girls were nowhere to be seen. You growled to yourself. You hated when your girls stayed up too late. It wasn’t healthy for the youngsters!
"They'll start appreciating a good night's sleep once they're older," you mumbled to yourself, closing the door again.
You turned around to go upstairs, but stopped in your tracks when you saw your husband standing at the stairs. He was dressed in a thin nightgown, his hair slicked back, his mask off to reveal his unnatural yet handsome features. He stared at you silently, his thin lips forming a small smile. But you wouldn’t be swayed by his beauty. Not this time. You crossed your arms.
“Not even gonna say hello?” you asked bitterly. The pain and exhaustion of the night’s ordeal weren’t making you feel any less bitter about your husband’s carefree attitude. You took a step towards Miraak, opening your mouth to say another sharp remark, but he silenced you with a chaste kiss. Even though you’d promised to yourself to stay mad at him, you couldn’t help but melt a little. You closed your eyes with a soft exhale, your tense shoulders finally relaxing.
“Hush, my dear” Miraak whispered as he pulled away, gently taking your hand and leading you upstairs. You followed him obediently, your footsteps quiet on the wooden floor. As you walked, you could feel your legs aching with fatigue. You wished for nothing more than your warm bed…
Soon, you reached your bedroom, and your brows furrowed in confusion.
“Where are the kids?” you asked quietly, but your husband paid your question no mind. You sighed. They were probably playing near the lake again. You just wanted to sleep, so you guessed you could leave the kids to Miraak… He gently pushed the door open, and the sight that greeted you warmed your heart.
Your dear girls were sound asleep on your bed. There was a book in Sofie’s hand and a doll in Lucia’s. You stepped inside the room quietly, your hand reaching to stroke your daughters’ hair. The action made them mumble something incoherently, but they remained asleep. You gently took the book from Lucia and put it on the nightstand. You stared at the sight for a few moments, exhaustion giving way to motherly love. Then you sighed and got into bed as well. You hugged your daughters close, feeling Miraak climb into the bed as well. He pulled the three of you closer, his chin resting on the top of your head. Your eyes closed slowly. You could get used to it.
“I love you,” you heard your husband whisper, but you had no strength to reply. You hummed in response, your arms securely wrapped around Lucia and Sofie. Miraak chuckled lowly and closed his eyes as well. He didn’t need to hear you say it to know it was true: you loved him and your daughters more than anything in this life. And they loved you just as much.

(part 2/2) previous part here
"There’s a smile in her tone: You did. In keeping with my greatest tenet, you did. But I have been with you since the start and I will be with you until the end. This is not the end. Then there comes a sigh, wistful and wisp-like: We’re not supposed to intervene. If you’re to die on this island, I should let you die. But if Mora can break boundaries to harm you, I can break them to help you."

Time Moves Slow - Miraak
sfw, gn reader, mention of canon typical blood/injury Summary: After returning from Sovngarde the Dragonborn finds that a handful of hours for them has been years for those in Tamriel and reunites with their loved one. Others Linked: Vilkas, Brynjolf, Farkas, Teldryn, Cicero
While the Hall of Valor echoed with hundreds of voices you sat completely speechless. As the many toasts and speeches would recount, you'd slain Alduin. The World Eater had fallen to your blade. Resplendent foods and an endless river of ale flowed throughout the hall as eons worth of heroes spoke of your deeds. It was unreal.
It took some effort to soak it all in - your body wanted nothing more than to rest but you fought against it. It felt wrong to sit at the head of such an esteemed table as the Last Dragonborn without Miraak at your side - he was the First, after all. You should've done this together.
You committed the event to memory. Hours slipped into what had to be nighttime in Tamriel but you were steadfast. If he couldn't be present for such a day you would recount every last detail to him. It was a single day, surely your memory could withstand that.
With a stern reminder about mortality you began the lengthy exit. Shaking hands and exchanging farewells with history's most storied heroes was an odd experience but you forged onward, memorizing each name. Miraak would surely have input on those he'd known personally.
"Thank you all for your help." Your throat constricted with the telltale threat of tears. Too many eyes were on you. "Truly I could not have done this without you."
The harsh clang of metal cut through the nice moment. All attention turned to the commotion outside the Hall's hefty doors - another clash of weapons, a hefty grunt, a shout to stop. Hand hovering over the hilt of your sword your heart leapt into your throat. Your tired body couldn't handle another battle.
"Stop, intruder!" Tsun's voice rang out as the Hall of Valor's doors blasted open. You were relieved to see a man falling into the Hall - far easier to handle than a dragon.
The intruder was a wreck. Gashes sliced through the mess of his robes and you spotted quite a few wounds while he collected himself. He was no spirit, no mist clung to his form as it did the residents of Sovngarde. As you drew your weapon he straightened, desperate eyes seeking yours.
"There you are." Miraak's smooth voice melted all tension from your body. Stalking through the Hall of Valor he tossed aside the bloodied mask, bruises marring his face. He never spared a glance for the rest of the room as he closed in on you, split lips cracking into a rare smile.
Ungloved hands grasped your face when Miraak's lips fell to yours. His kiss was bloody and urgent, drowning out the whispers from all those in the Hall of Valor. Grabbing at his unfamiliar robes you dragged him closer, desperate and bursting with questions.
"My heart." He murmured, kissing up the side of your face. "You're safe. You're alive."
Your cheeks burned at his shameless display of affection. A few mutters guessed his identity but none were brave enough to step forward.
"How are you here?" Miraak chuckled against your skin at the question, seeming ignorant to the hundreds of onlookers. Greedy hands tilted your face up to his - he looked the same but changed, new scars and a few creases making him appear older.
"Mal Dov." He muttered, an old petname that still made your heart flutter. "You have no idea how long I've searched for you."
"Dovahkiin." One voice commanded attention above the rest. You turned to the speaker, a warrior clad in heavy armor glowering at you both. "You know this intruder?"
"Yes." Miraak's smile curdled into a snarl. The two glared at one another, hardly taking notice when you stepped between them. Miraak placed a protective hand on your shoulder - that caught the warrior's attention.
"Do you know what he is? All that he has done?"
"I've hidden none of my deeds, Hakon." Miraak's voice was pure venom. The hero's eyes turned to you and your stomach churned.
"Is this true, Dragonborn?"
"Yes." Another wave of whispers erupted through the crowd. Miraak's fingers curled into your armor, dragging you closer.
"And yet you," Hakon paused, disgust clear in every word, "you care for him?"
"I love him." It was likely the wrong thing to say but there was no denying it, not when the simplest touch of his lips made your heart soar. Miraak seemed pleased, a possessive kiss placed to your temple.
"We thank you for your deeds today, Dragonborn. But you must leave this place." Hakon paused again, his disappointment evident. "Due to these actions I ask that you do not return."
Walking out of Sovngarde with Miraak at your side felt right. He clutched you close, whispered promises and apologies washing away the stress of the day. He was relentless, switching between apologies and rushed stories of how long he'd followed your trail.
Upon returning to Skyrim you became acutely aware of every ache and pain Sovngarde had spared you from feeling. Miraak hauled you onto his back, waving away concern over his injuries when he carried your exhausted body toward home. Finally it seemed you would both be able to relax.
After making camp beneath a grove of trees Miraak snored at your side. His story of how long you'd truly been gone made no sense but there was no other explanation - he'd searched everywhere and found nothing, breaking into Sovngarde after years of fruitless travels. Curling into his side you made peace with your decision - you'd give up every afterlife in existence to be with him.
